Real life is much different from fairy tales
For me, life is an interesting adventure worth living. Life is beautiful but not always easy, it has problems, too, and the challenge lies in facing them with courage, letting the beauty of life act like a balm, which makes the pain bearable, during trying times, by providing hope.
Adversity and hardships make a person strong and ready to face the challenges of life with equanimity. Thus, life is and should not be just a bed of roses as it is being told in fairy tales that life is where there are indeed several myths surrounding .
Of course no one nowadays believes in fairies, except ignorant and superstitious villagers, and, perhaps, children.
Well, we live in a very practical and matter-of-fact age, and our daily drudgery and our monotonous lives cannot satisfy the craving for romance that is more or less in all human beings.
Though we know the novels are fiction, and even children no longer really believe in fairies, we still find pleasure in such tales, because they take us away for a little time from our dull, everyday lives.
The first and obvious thought is that by imagining them away, we are seeking to purify our experience, to come closer to the real world by stripping away emotional projections and hierarchical assumptions.

DeleteGood work Harshita! I agree with you that Fairy tales are for villagers and children...but wouldn't you agree with me that at some point in all our lives--it is akin to a fairy tale? We too face hardships like the knight/prince in a fairy tale faces demons? Demons that he must conquer to rescue the land or a princess...and in our lives we must conquer those demons called hardships for us to lead a better, more beautiful existence? Then the hero in the fairy tale waits for the fairy Godmother to wave a wand and create magic...even we do that in our lives.. wait for that miracle to happen...wait for something good to help us along...
ReplyDeleteLife - in perspective-- is nothing short of a fairy tale.
